The Fraternal Order of the Eagles (4526) in DeBary Florida presented the Domestic Abuse Council of
Volusia County with a check in the amount of $4,587.75, on Sunday, November 9, 2014. It was the net
proceeds from the golf tournament held on October 19, 2014.
The event took ace at the Glen Abbey Golf Course, just a couple of blocks away from the Eagles lodge
in Debary. Event chairman and trustee for the Eagles, Bob Pennington was thrilled with the
commitment that his club showed for the inaugural event.
He said the Club trustees really rallied around the event and Nancy Doran, Pennington's wife, was
relentless in soliciting sponsorships. On the day of the tournament, there were 41 hole sponsors alone.
They had a car for the hole-in-one and other choice prizes for various challenges, such as longest drive.
There were 18 foursomes on the course who all enjoyed a lunch afterwards. Pennington said
everything was donated and it was a very successful event. In addition to the golf tournament the
Eagles lodge held a drive for essential items on the wish list.
When community groups come together to support our cause it reinforces that we are doing the right
thing and making a difference to our neighbors and our families. This funding is truly appreciated and
very necessary,” Cheryl Fuller, CEO of the Domestic Abuse council, Inc. said.
