Quilters-by-the-Sea in Ormond Beach does a lot of community service and makes many items for donations for the local community. One project spear headed by member Sharon Bauman of Flagler Beach was to make a banner for the Domestic Abuse Council, Inc.

Quilting club member Bauman designed the banner and put it altogether. Another club member, Rose Croce did all of the intricate quilting. The quilt stitching is s swirl design that ads to the overall appearance.

“We are in the community for so many events for awareness and professional training and we have not had a banner prior to this. Having a homemade banner, made by caring hands helps promote our mission and ideals. Hands are for hugs and not hitting. We are thrilled to receive such a gift and can’t wait to use it at one of our upcoming events,” Cheryl Fuller, CEO of the Domestic Abuse Council said.

According to Bauman, Quilters-by-the-Sea has several outreach programs. In addition to making lap quilts and quilts for children, they also give quilting lessons at the Ormond Beach Library for children.
