The room was packed. Perhaps people came to see the models wear very affordable fashions. Maybe
they came to see the illustrious emcee, Daytona Beach Police Chief, Michael Chitwood. Perhaps they
came to see the Rookie of the Year for the NASCAR truck series Ben Kennedy and score an autograph
or two. It is also possible they came because the raffle prizes were amazing. The first “Daytona Derby”
fundraiser to support the Domestic Abuse Council was a success.
No matter their reason, the Palmetto Club in Daytona Beach was packed as guests wore sublime derby
hats enjoyed live music provided by Gordon Russell and Ann Marwick.
